Healthcare Interview Series- Susie Turkson (M.D., Ph.D student)

This months healthcare interview series sheds a light on Susie Turkson.


Susie Turkson is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She attended The University of Chicago for college. After graduating with her B.A in Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience, Susie remained in Chicago for 3 years doing research on neurodegenerative diseases and cognition. She completed the 2-year Medical Master's program at Eastern Virginia Medical School before gaining acceptance into medical school. Susie is currently an MD-PhD student at VCU, finishing the first year of the Neuroscience Ph.D program. She is interested in the role of sex hormones and inflammation in mediating cognitive decline. Susie has previously served as the Vice President for Community Service for the VCU School of Medicine's Student National Medical Association (SNMA) chapter, and remains active in diversity-oriented recruitment activities for the school of medicine.
