Health Care Interview Series- Dr. Jonathan Moore (VCU Biology Faculty)

This week we sat down to chat with Dr. Moore, a faculty member at VCU within the department of Biology.

Dr. Jonathan Moore was born in Houston, TX but was raised for most of his life in Richmond, VA, and the surrounding areas. He graduated from Matoaca High School in Chesterfield County in 1997 and went to VCU to pursue a BS in Biology while minoring in Music Performance (clarinet). After, he entered the Master's program at VCU and graduated with a MENVS in 2004. He taught at John Tyler Community College, Virginia State University, and VCU as an adjunct and full faculty until matriculating into graduate school in the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech in 2006.



In 2011 he joined the faculty at VCU in the Department of Biology as a faculty member where he continues to work to the present day. Jonathan studied stream ecology, avian ecology, and behavioral ecology at VCU and VT. He currently teaches courses in these fields as well as general and specific vertebrate courses (Ornithology, Mammalian Ecology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy). Jonathan has been married for 6 years to Joel Gill and has two dogs - Jenny and James. In the future, Jonathan hopes to earn the credentials to become a licensed counselor.
